Friends, on this hot summer day we’re excited to present a drum cover by our school’s student, Natalia Ostapiuk, of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down”!
Checkpoint Studio — music school in Kyiv drum lessons and recording
If you’ve been hunting for a place that actually understands what it takes to grow as a musician, welcome — that’s exactly why Checkpoint exists. As Kyiv’s creative hub, we combine lessons, rehearsal space, and professional production so you can stop packing gear between places and start making music. At Checkpoint you’ll find real instructors (they gig, tour, and produce), acoustically tuned rooms, and gear that doesn’t make you feel like an impostor. Whether you want drum rudiments, a demo that sounds like you in your head, or reliable hourly rehearsal time, Checkpoint covers it — honestly and without the usual studio ego.
Why Checkpoint is the right music school in Kyiv drum lessons and recording hub
Most studios focus on one thing. Most schools teach in classrooms. We do both — and that tension is a strength. We know the common pain points: flaky rehearsal rooms, engineering jargon that confuses you, lessons that are too theoretical, or production that strips your personality. Our approach is practical. A drummer learning fills a hole in a band’s arrangement; a singer records a single that actually represents their voice; a band books three rehearsals before tracking an album to save time and money. It’s all under one roof.
Here’s what you’ll find at Checkpoint:
- Music School — drums, guitar, bass, and sound engineering lessons with instructors who are active performers and producers. Expect hands-on practice, real gig prep, and occasional tough-love feedback.
- Recording Studio — singles, demos, and full albums. Industry-standard mics and preamps, analogue warmth when you want it, precise mixing choices when you don’t. We don’t do cookie-cutter production; we help you find your sound.
- Rehearsal Rooms — soundproofed, well-equipped rooms for solo practice or full band rehearsals. Book by the hour and save the back-and-forth of lugging amps across the city.
- Instrument Rental — quality gear for gigs and sessions. Need a snare that cuts through or an amp for a specific tone? We’ve got you covered.
Real scenarios: a beginner drummer who wants to play in a band within three months; a singer-songwriter who needs a single for an upcoming showcase; a punk band that needs tight three-hour rehearsals before a weekend tour. We map a clear path for each situation — lessons, rehearsal plan, and studio time — so you don’t waste money or momentum.
Community, not just clients
Checkpoint is built around people. Our instructors double as mentors, the waiting area is often a mini-feedback circle, and we host low-key jam nights and listening sessions where real progress gets shared. You’ll meet touring musicians from Kyiv, producers, and beginners who become collaborators. It feels a bit messy sometimes (in a good way), because real creativity rarely sits perfectly on a timetable.
Technical bits you’ll actually care about: acoustically designed rooms that reduce bleed, reliable monitors for mixes that translate to clubs, and microphones like AKG and Shure that capture nuance. But what matters more is that someone explains the choices in plain language and helps you apply them musically.

ЧАСТІ ЗАПИТАННЯ
What should I expect at my first lesson or studio visit?
We like to keep first visits relaxed and practical. Expect a short conversation about your goals, a quick skills check or warm-up, and then guided playing or a simple recording test depending on the service. For drum students we usually meet at Checkpoint Drumschool (вул. Обсерваторна, 13/15); other lessons and studio sessions are at вул. Саксаганського, 117.
Tip: bring whatever you already own (sticks, pedal, guitar, USB stick) — we provide industry-standard gear if you don’t.
If you have specific concerns, call us at 063-102-24-80 before your visit.
I'm a complete beginner — can I still join lessons and what ages do you teach?
Absolutely. Many of our students started with zero experience. We teach children, teens and adults with tailored curricula that balance technique, songs and musicianship.
- Children: playful, rhythm-focused drills and simple songs.
- Teens: combo of technique, repertoire and performance prep.
- Adults: flexible goals — hobby, band-readiness, or pro ambitions.
Lessons are usually one-on-one or small groups and instructors adapt to your pace. Contact us to discuss the best teacher match — many students switch styles after a few months.
What recording services do you offer and how should I prepare?
We handle everything from demo tracking to full album production: tracking, editing, mixing, and mastering, plus rehearsal-to-studio workflow. Our control room uses Universal Audio Apollo interfaces, Neve-style preamps, and microphones like Neumann TLM 103 and Shure SM7B for vocals and instruments.
Preparation tips: bring charts or stems, tune instruments, and arrive warmed up. If you’re searching specifically for "music school in Kyiv drum lessons and recording" — we bridge lessons, rehearsals and studio time to give bands a smooth, familiar process.

Who teaches at Checkpoint and what does your sound engineering training cover?
Our instructors are active performers and studio engineers — many teach while gigging around Kyiv. You’ll find drum teachers who've toured Ukrainian venues, guitarists experienced in studio session work, and engineers proficient in Pro Tools, Ableton and live FOH mixes.
Training topics: mic placement, signal flow, compression/EQ basics, mixing workflows and live sound techniques. We also offer mentorship for portfolio development — students often assist on real sessions.
